Partial acceptance
Why can't you change part two
Your inability to change is suffocating
Ironic since that’s how most would describe a mother’s love
Except your love is not kind nor gentle
It is a twisted one
One that has warped your mind into thinking what you do benefits me
‘It’s for your own good’
What good do you do?
You drive your child away
Making the passage between us wider and wider
As I step forward and walkaway,
You stand still
Stagnant.
That’s how I describe you
Your inability to change leaves you stuck in time
In a time where I had box braids
And wore skirts (because I had to)
One where you had the perfect daughter
You haven’t realised I set that person ablaze,
Killing the person you thought I was
While you stand in the fire
Stagnant,
Stuck in your bewilderment
I plan to move forward
Towards a bright future
One that is brighter than the inferno you’re bound to
